Small Space, Big Difference

When it came to designing this kitchen, our customers knew exactly what they wanted. The most important requirement to them, was creating a space where they could sit, use as a work surface for baking and also double up as a storage area.

They opted for a painted grey shaker door matched up with the gorgeous pitch pine worktops and splashbacks.

Here is what the kitchen looked like before we started:-

After months of planning and just a couple of weeks of hard labour this is the finished look and I am sure that we can all agree on one thing, it looks gorgeous!!!

OUR YEAR SO FAR

We are now 6 months on since our lovely showroom opened and wow, its been an incredible year for us so far. We have been so lucky to design and install some gorgeous kitchens & Bedrooms. Each of our kitchens vary so much from one to another so thought we would share with you some of our projects that we have worked on so far in 2018!

The first kitchen pictured here was part of a new extension to the house, the customers chose dust grey handless doors matched up with black sparkle quartz worktops:-

Our next install could not have been more different, although the same door was used on both kitchens, our customers had a bespoke colour on the doors, teamed up with pure white quartz:-

This next kitchen was designed using a traditional style shaker door, with beautiful solid surface worktops, made even more interesting with the mid height oven housing:-

We have loved working on all of these designs as well as getting to know our lovely customers.  We have some great kitchens being installed throughout the summer so watch this space for more photos to come.

Our Latest Kitchen Transformation

February was a very exciting month for us, after months of planning the time had finally come to convert that kitchen plan in to reality. With it being one of the biggest kitchens to date that we have created Richard could not wait to get started.

On the first day of the job, this is what the kitchen looked like…

As you can see, it is a very large room, which meant when It came to planning the new layout, it gave us lots of room to play around with.

Our customer knew what sort of style kitchen she wanted, she opted a for a traditional painted shaker style door, in two different colours (dust grey & white) paired with the most stunning Quartz stone worktops and upstands, which finishes the kitchen off perfectly.

Richard particularly enjoyed this kitchen as it has a few bespoke features. Firstly he created a beautiful pantry, with lovely wooden spice racks, shelves and drawers. Secondly at one end of the kitchen, there is a moveable island which is the perfect addition for when hosting those dinner parties. Lastly not forgetting that striking mantle and surround to house the new oven.

Its also the little things that bring this kitchen to life, such as the delicate handles, that beautiful tap and those grooves cut in to the worktop.

As we do with all of our jobs, we arranged all plumbing, electrical, plastering and flooring tradesman to help complete this project, meaning there is less for our customer to have to arrange.

After many weeks of hard work, we were absolutely thrilled with the outcome….

I am sure you will all agree with us, that this is such a timeless, elegant kitchen. For us here at Dawlish Kitchens & Bedrooms there is nothing more joyful then creating and watching a new kitchen come to life.

First Blog – Project showroom

So after trading for 2 years, out of a very small office (effectively a shed),  we decided that it was the right time to build a proper showroom, where we can showcase all our work and a place where customers can come and relax whilst making big decisions.

We received the keys to the premises in May 2016, when the showroom looked like this…25446175_10208468208981422_9119105599427736768_n25395923_10208468209341431_9046927461020211572_n25348333_10208468208781417_5243158362073855512_n25398742_10208468209221428_6521839544197790418_n

As you can see, it just looked grotty, old and very tired. So that’s when all the hard work began, we had to transform this place! There is only two of us here at Dawlish Kitchens so it was a massive project to take on (along with looking after a toddler amongst it all) so we decided to share the space with another local company called Plectrumb Ltd who have the bathroom and boiler displays in the showroom.  Having never done a project like this, it was a major learning curve as we had to think about absolutely everything.

Over the course of 6 months, we spent many a late night and weekends in here but it was most certainly worth it.  I can never express to you how over the moon we were with the finished product!

To finish and dress our displays, we teamed up with a local interior shop, Nkuku Home & Lifestyle, who have the most gorgeous furniture and home accessories. All of the products are available to purchase from our show room.

The weekend before Christmas we had a grand opening, where customers, family & friends joined us in celebrating with mulled wine, prosecco, mince pies, taking in all of the stunning displays.

We hope you enjoyed our first blog & look forward to seeing some of you in 2018!
